Arrive, move and visit Venice
Local public transport
The easiest way to reach Venice is by air. Venice is served by two airports: Venice Marco Polo for scheduled flights and Treviso Canova for charter flights.
The quicker and cheaper way to reach Venice from Marco Polo airport is the ATVO bus to Piazzale Roma. The service meets all scheduled flights and costs around 3,00 €. Cheaper still, but stopping along the way, is the ACTV public bus to Piazzale Roma, which departs every 15 minutes.
From Treviso airport, the ATVO coach service transports passengers to and from Piazzale Roma Venice’s car and bus terminal, the trip costs about 5,00 €.
Getting around Venice by boat
The vaporetti or waterbuses provide an entertaining form of public transport, although most journeys within the city can usually be covered more quickly on foot. The main route through the city is the Grand Canal, and these waterbuses also supply a useful service linking the city with the islands in the lagoon. The service is run by ACTV (visit the website for routes and timetables).
